Good morning Year 3!

It's another lovely sunny day today. I hope you get chance to enjoy the sunshine outside. You could go for a bike ride or take your dog out for a walk.

Wake yourself up with Joe this morning on YouTube (I've been doing these every day too) or have a dance with GoNoodle.

Here are your 3 tasks for today:

1.    Watch this horrible history clip about Roman food.

Pretend you are the Roman Emperor having people round for dinner. Create a disgusting 3 course Roman banquet menu using the ideas from this clip. Illustrate the menu with your gruesome pictures.

You will need:
- a starter
- a main course
- a dessert

I will be looking to see who's menu is the most revolting

2. During this strange time there are lots of things we wish we could do, places we would like to go and people we would love to see. Every time we think of anything we wish we could do, we’re going to write it down on a post it note and put it in a jar. By doing this, we are creating a wish jar.

In our jar are all the things we will look forward to when we are able to go back to school and see our friends. We can go through our jars when we are back to normal and make sure we do all the things we wished we could. We can remind ourselves of all the exciting things we have to be thankful for when we are back to normal.

You can decorate and design your jar. I would love to see pictures of your beautifully decorated wish jars.

3. He could hear a rustling noise coming from nearby. Toby realised he wasn’t the only creature that lived in the forest…

Start with the sentences above. What happens next?
  • How does Toby feel?
  • Describe the forest using interesting adjectives
  • What other creatures are there with him?
  • Can you use a simile to describe the other creatures?
Challenge: Try to include speech (remember your inverted commas and interesting synonyms for said)

Complete pages 11 and 32 (remember prepositions tell you where something is e.g. under, beneath) in your work packs and challenge yourself of TT rock stars.

I look forward to seeing your fantastic work today. Remember to comment below and send photos to year.3@ctk.education

Who will be our star of the day?

Have a great day,

Miss Kingscote

Today's reflection:

Harley is our star of the day! Harley has completed all of his activities, designed a lovely wish jar and used real money to work out his change. He has not only planned his rotten Roman menu but he has made it too! Harley is pictured below with his gruesome banquet. Look at those crabs! WELL DONE HARLEY.

  • Another lovely success to celebrate comes from Ralphie. Yesterday he wrote his great nan a letter to tell her all the things he had been doing and delivered it to her door. Ralphie then taught her to email so she could reply to him. She was able to reply to his letter by email allowing them to stay in touch. So lovely! Thank you for sharing Ralphie.
  • Yet another day of fantastic work shared today. Lovely to see your wish jars, it'll be nice to look back on these when we go back to school.
  • Don't forget, if you don't have time to complete all your tasks on that day, you can catch up anytime you like.
  • Keep it up year 3, you are all amazing! Proud of you all.
Below are some photos from today:
Angelos made a rotten Roman banquet!

Fantastic writing by Declan, I love your similes!

Good morning Year 3!

I hope you had a lovely weekend with your family. I am looking forward to another week of home learning and seeing all of the brilliant things you're getting up to.

Your 3 tasks for today:

Start your Monday with Joe Wick's P.E on YouTube. Enjoy!

1. Find out at least 6 facts about the Romans using the website below. You can search in the search bar at the top.

https://www.q-files.com/

Create a Roman quiz for your family using the answers you have just researched.
For example
Question 1: What was a Roman townhouse called?
A- a colosseum
B- a domus
C- a villa

B is the correct answer.

2. Design a healthy meal for your family using the ingredients you have at home. Remember to use the Eat Well Plate to ensure your meal is balanced.

It would brilliant if you could help to prepare and cook that meal. Send in photos of your healthy meals and explain why you chose those ingredients. If you aren't able to make it, draw what your plate would look like or make it out of play dough.

3. It's nice to stay in touch with our friends and family at the moment. As we aren't able to see everyone it would be nice to write a letter to a loved one to tell them what you've been doing and how you are feeling.

Choose someone to write to (a friend at school or a family member you haven't seen in a while)
What to include:

  • what you've been doing
  • what you've enjoyed
  • how you're feeling
  • something you are looking forward to doing with them next time you see them
  • Remember to sign off with your name when you've finished your letter
  • Illustrate your letter with a picture at the end

Read your school book to an adult and challenge yourself on TT Rockstars. Complete pages 9 and 10 for your maths today (remember difference = take away) and page 37 for reading comprehension (in your work packs).

Please don't forget to comment below to tell me how you are and email year.3@ctk.education with any photos of what you've been doing today. I look forward to seeing your fantastic work!

Have a great day,

Miss Kingscote

Good morning Year 3!

Happy Friday! I hope you're all safe and well.

Here are your 3 tasks for today:

1. Your first task is to please comment below in the comments section with your name when you have seen this post. If you don’t comment we do not know that you are completing the activities. It’s important for us to check you are ok and to see if you need any help. I am missing you all very much, it would be so lovely to hear from you.

If for any reason it's not letting you comment (a few have said this), email year.3@ctk.education with your name instead.

2. Look out the window, draw or paint what you can see.

Focusing on your senses write a descriptive paragraph about what is happening outside your window. If you prefer, you can imagine what you would like to see out your window.
For example: When I look out my window I can see the rough sea splashing against the jagged rocks and feel the warm sand beneath my feet. I can hear the birds chirping above me and smell the sweet smell of delicious ice cream.

-what can you see?
-what can you hear?
-what can you touch?
-what can you smell?

3.  1 minute challenges:

In 1 minute I can…
Write my name ______ times
Starting in 1’s and going up in 1’s, what’s the biggest number you can get to? ________
Do _______ star jumps
Hop on 1 leg ______ times
Put ______ beads in a jar
Jump on the spot _____ times
Draw ______ houses

Try to listen to one of David Walliam’s free audio books. He releases a new one at 11am each day. Choose one to enjoy. You could sit and enjoy listening in the sunshine.

Complete page 8 in your work packs. Don’t forget to read your book every day.

If you haven't had time to complete any of the previous days tasks you can complete them in your own time.

Have a great day! I look forward to seeing what you've been doing today

Miss Kingscote

Good morning Year 3!

I hope you've been enjoying the sunshine and the nice weather we are having.

Please have a look at the daily reflection I will be posting at around 3 pm each day at the end of the blog. This will be a chance to share the work you have been doing and see what your friends have been busy with. It will also be a space where I can share your success and celebrate your wonderful efforts.

Remember to wake yourself with Joe or Go Noodle this morning at 9 am.

Here are your 3 tasks for today:

1. Finish off the story to explain what happens next. Remember to include interesting adjectives in your writing.

The first part of the journey had been exactly as she’d hoped it would be. Things were about to take a turn for the worse…

Imagine you can see through Poppy’s eyes. Can you draw what she can see? Why is she pulling that face?

2. Design and build your own obstacle course in your garden or in your living room
You must include:
-a jump
-a balance
-a hop
-something to go over
-something to go under
-a crawl

Here are some ideas of things you could use:
-pillows
-toys
-bucket
-broom
-skipping rope
-chair

Can you race against someone at home or time yourself? How could you make it harder?

3. Imagine you are a scientist and have just discovered a new species of animal that has never been discovered before. Draw it and then describe it.
-What does it look like?
-Where did you find it
-What does it eat?
-Where does it sleep?
-What is it called?

I have discovered a heagle. It seems to be a mix of eagle and horse.

Complete pages 6 and 7 in your work packs and challenge yourself on TT Rock Stars.
