Good morning Year 3!

I hope you all had a good sleep and are ready for a terrific Tuesday! I know we are going to have another great day of home learning today.

A reminder:
Tomorrow we are going to have a zoom video with the class at 11am. You need to give permission to the school office before you can join in. If you haven't already, call the office to give permission to join us. The school office will text out the meeting ID and password you will need for tomorrow. If you haven't given permission, you won't be able to join. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Will you be our star of the day?

Start your day with Joe Wicks or go for a walk with your family. It's good to start our day with exercise.

Here are your 3 activities:

1. English

Today we are going to reread our story 'The Stone Trolls' from yesterday on pages 5 and 6.

https://www.talk4writing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Y3-Dean-Stone-Trolls.pdf

We are going to use the unfamiliar words you defined yesterday (page 7). Write a sentence using each of the unfamiliar words.

For example:
I decided to wade into the icy cold water.
I clambered over the rocks to find a good place to hide.

2. Maths

Today is lesson 10 on fractions. Click on the link below and scroll down to 'compare and order unit fractions'. If you have missed a lesson follow on from the last one you did. For example, if you have only completed up to lesson 6. Complete lesson 7 today.

https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/year-3/maths/#subjects

Complete the quiz to remind yourself of yesterday's lesson. Watch the video and complete the activities.

3. PSHE

Captain Tom Moore raised a lot of money for the NHS. It's amazing how just one person can make such a difference. Can you find out how many laps of his garden he completed? How much money did he raise?

You can draw your own picture of Captain Tom completing his challenge. You can then put it in your window to celebrate his success.

However small we think our actions are, we can all make a difference. What would you do to make a positive difference to the world around us?

Reading

Remember to read your school book for at least 15 minutes today.

Don't forget to challenge yourself on Times Table Rock Stars too!
Remember to say hello in the comments below and email in to let us know how you are. Send your photos in to year.3@ctk.education

You can also listen to the story using the link on page 5. Complete the activity on page 7. These are all unfamiliar words you probably do not know. You need to find out their meaning and write a definition. Find the words in the story to help you.

Times Tables Daily

Use TTRS - 10 minutes per day

Listen to Mr Searle’s songs - sing-a-long

Good morning Year 3!

Happy Friday! It's nearly the weekend and time for us to relax. It has been another successful week of home learning.

Will you be our star of the day?

Have a look at yesterday's blog to see the brilliant work your friends sent in.

Here are your 3 activities for today:

1. English

As it's Friday we are going to do some creative writing. We are going to write an adventure story using interesting verbs. It is your choice what you write about today. Don't forget your paragraphs!

My story is going to be about a young boy who creates an airplane to fly around the world exploring new places. What will happen in your story?

I look forward to reading them.

2. Maths

Listen to and sing along with our Mr Searle's times table songs. Click on the links below.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/13iAth4VMD3Q2iaIoJEcNawjmdLYyVS0B/view?usp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t8eqeRVKPvzllHdXcsQueQnyIXUqUsza/view?usp=sharing

As you know, we focus on the 3, 4 and 8's times tables in Year 3. Listen to the songs and sing along. You can teach a sibling or a grown up at home our catchy songs. Remember to try and do it without looking.

When you have practised them, log into TT Rockstars and use the songs to help you.

I have changed the link to the times tables above. It should be working now (fingers crossed). I have also downloaded the songs and emailed them as attachments to the email addresses I have.

3. D.T

Design and create a mode of transport (boat, car or train) to help you in your adventure story. You can use whatever you have available to you. It be a cardboard box, toilet roll tubes or a plastic container. You decide what you will design based on your creative writing story.

Reading

Complete page 42 in your paper work packs. Complete the ‘what’s out in space?’ comprehension.

Don't forget to comment to say hello on the blog or email to tell us how you are. We LOVE to see your photos of what you've been doing. Yesterday was a great day, you sent in so much. Email us at year.3@ctk.education

I hope you have a fantastic Friday! I look forward to seeing all your brilliant work later.

Miss Kingscote

Today's reflection:

Yet another brilliant week of home learning. You have worked so hard this week, I have been so impressed with your attitude towards your learning. I have loved seeing all of your photos. We are so proud of you all!

As you may have seen, we are going to start using zoom videos next week. Your grown ups have all been sent a text with the information. They need to call the office and give permission for you to take part. We will let you know the day and time next week. Mrs Miller and I are really looking forward to seeing you all and will be a lovely chance for you to see your friends.

We have two stars of the day because I just couldn't decide.

Our first star of the day is Maisie! This is just a selection of Maisie's brilliant work. Despite a difficult week, Maisie has produced fantastic work and completed all activities to a brilliant standard. Maisie's adventure story is creative, neat and well thought through. Also, what lovely handwriting! GO MAISIE!

Our second star of the day is Awele. WOW WOW WOW! Awele's story today is incredible. Her handwriting is fantastic, she has included speech and paragraphs. I am so proud.

Fidel has written a brilliant story, designed a car and even baked some delicious goodies. Well done Fidel. You are a superstar!

Calvin has written a brilliant adventure story. What wonderful joined handwriting!
Harley has written a great adventure story and designed his boat. He has also been practising his times tables using Mr Searle's songs as you can see in the video below. Keep it up!

Freya has written a brilliant story today. This is just the first page, she is still busy beavering away on the second page.

Bernice has worked hard today.
