Good morning Year 3!

Happy Monday! I am sure you all had a lovely weekend with your family. What did you enjoy doing? I would love to hear all about your weekend. I baked a cake and went walking in the sunshine.

Here are your 3 activities for today:

1. We are going to continue using the booklet 'The Truth about Trolls' this week. Click on the link below and reread the text from last week to remind yourself.

We are going to complete page 13 today. We are going to add more information to our sentences by using something called a relative clause (some of you will remember these). For example, below the first sentence is simple. The second includes a who relative clause. The part in red is the relative clause. Don't forget your commas either side of the relative clause.

The troll lived under the bridge.
The troll, who was very grumpy, lived under the bridge.

Follow the instructions on page 13 to create your own sentences about your troll including relative clauses.

2. We are continuing with our work on fractions today. Today we are following lesson 5 on the Oak National Academy website. Click on the link below.

Click on the 5th lesson 'to describe unit and non-unit fractions.' Click ‘start lesson’. Start with the quiz (this is a recap from last week). Click 'next activity' and watch the video. Complete the main activity discussed in the video and the quiz at the end. Write your answers in your home learning books.

You could use lego or small objects to help when sharing out. You can physically share out your objects to get your answer.

3. For our R.E work today we are going to write a prayer or reflection to think of those in need. You might want to focus on someone you know or you might talk about the NHS or those who are in hospital. You can illustrate your prayer and share it with us when you are finished.

Read your level books in the garden or in a quiet space and make sure you have 10 minutes on times table rock stars today.

I'm looking forward to seeing your fantastic work. Don't forget to say hello in the comments and tell us about your weekend and send us your photos to year.3@ctk.education

I will post your photos on here later so you can see what your friends have been doing.

Who will be our star of the day?
Have a lovely day,

Miss Kingscote
Today's reflection:

It has been lovely to hear from you all today and see what you've all been up to this weekend. Thank you for sending in photos of your hard work. A reminder to send in any photos, we love to see them!

You may have noticed that there has been a mix up with today's maths. The website was changed today causing the order of lessons to be muddled. I have now changed this back (the activity above is now correct). If you completed the work set earlier then it was a great recap, do not worry. If you noticed, well done... if you didn't, do not worry. Apologies for any confusion!

My star of the day today is Aaliyah! She has been working hard at home and making time to play outside too. Here are a few photos of Aaliyah enjoying herself at home.

Below are some photos of your friends and their brilliant work.

Benji has been working hard at home creating a thoughtful prayer and working hard with his maths and English

Harley has written and illustrated a fantastic prayer and included some great relative clauses in his writing.

Merit has been working hard with her fractions work.

Fidel has been working so hard at home. Well done!
