Good morning Year 3!

I am sure you are all looking forward to the Easter break. How many of you were clapping for our NHS workers last night? Let me know in the comments.

Wake up with Joe or dance with GoNoodle.

Here are your 3 activities for today:

1. Today you are going to design and build a bridge out of recycled materials. This can be boxes, cardboard, paper, plastic containers or tins. Anything you have that can be recycled. Your bridge needs to be strong enough to hold the weight of an object (of your choice). I am going to be looking for the most interesting design and the greatest effort.

Here is an example. The bridge is strong enough to hold a car.

2. Rob is a children's illustrator. He has illustrated lots of famous children's books. Follow Rob's instructions to draw with Rob. Select any of the interesting characters and follow a tutorial to learn how to illustrate them. I think I would choose the sausage dog.

3. Here is an example of a pictogram. Remember to look at the key.
I can see that class 1 read 20 books and class 2 read 15 books.

How many books did class 3 and class 4 read?
How many books were read in total?

Create your own pictogram. You could create a pictogram about your toys or the different colour cars you can see out your window. Remember to create an appropriate key.

Work packs:
Complete pages 14 and 29 in your work packs. For page 14, choose A, B or C to answer. If you usually work on superstars for maths, complete task A. Remember to start in the ones column for column subtraction.

Post a comment below and send your photos into year.3@ctk.education

I look forward to seeing your lovely work. Will you be our star of the day?

Have a great day,

Miss Kingscote

Today's reflection:

  • I just wanted to say a big well done for all of your hard work over the last 2 weeks. You have all adapted so well to home learning and have been working really hard. You have all made me SO proud!
  • I miss you all very much but knowing how much effort you are putting into your learning really makes me smile.
  • Also a big THANKS to grown ups at home for helping with all of the home learning.
  • As you know it is now the Easter holidays, I am going to post a separate post above this with a small project you can do over Easter.

Our star of the day is Fidel. Fidel has been working hard designing his shop and using his maths to help work out the change he needs. Fidel has been exercising with Joe Wicks in the mornings and drawing too! It's nice to see Fidel helping his siblings. Well done Fidel!

Angelina has been working hard creating her shop, writing a story and improving her drawing skills.

Angelos has produced some fantastic work on pictograms today.

Anta has made a lovely peacock and written a brilliant story.

Harley has built a brilliant bridge that holds the weight of his toys and has been perfecting his column subtraction.

Ralphie has produced some lovely illustrations.

Declan has been doing arts and crafts at home.

Benji has been practicing his typing.

Bernice has been working really hard on her column addition. Fantastic!
