Good morning Year 3!

I hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sunshine. What did you get up to? Let us know in the comments or send us an email.

Our Headteacher Awards go to Benji H, Calvin, Des'Arai and Freddie this week. Well done! Have a look at the newsletter to find out why.

Who will be our star of the day?

Here are your activities for today

English

We are starting a new booklet this week called 'Journey to the Jungle'. It is about an explorer who goes on an adventure. Follow the link below.

https://www.talk4writing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Y3-Jungle.pdf

Read the 'Jungle Log' on page 3. Highlight any unfamiliar words. Can you find out what they mean? Page 4 focuses on 8 of the tricky words in the text. Each tricky word is defined in the table on page 4. Your task is to look at the definitions and draw a picture that represents that word. Your pictures will help you to remember the words.

Maths

We are going to start a new unit of lessons. We are going to learn about angles and shapes. Click on the link below and scroll down to 'angles and shapes'. Select lesson 1, 'to identify and recognise angles'. Watch the video and complete the activities. Don't forget to complete the quiz to recap your knowledge.

PSHE

Today we are going to learn about our food waste and what we can do to help. Gemma from Bristol Waste has created a brilliant video for you to learn about what happens to your rubbish when it is taken away. Watch the video below.

Your task is to complete the food waste bingo game throughout the week. These are all ways we can help our environment. The one below is an example. You could design your own and see how many you can cross off in the week. Who will shout ''BINGO'' at the end of the week?

Food Waste: Bingo

Reading

We are learning about a famous poem called 'Chocolate Cake' by Michael Rosen. Click on the link below and watch the video of Michael performing his poem. I hope you love it as much as I do!

What do you like about the poem?
Anything you disliked about it?
Do you think Michael’s mum did remember what happened next time she made chocolate cake? What might she have said to him?

Today's reflection

Another fantastic day of home learning. I have received lots of brilliant photos today. Well done! I am very proud of you all and the effort you are putting in. Mrs Miller and I are looking forward to another zoom quiz on Wednesday at 10am.

Harley is our star of the day. He has completed his work to a brilliant standard. He has drawn lovely illustrations to match our tricky words. He has searched for different objects in the house that have angles and completed all of his maths tasks. As well as this, Harley has completed his PSHE and has planted his veg tops. GO HARLEY!

Have a look at what your friends have been doing.

Awele has been working hard today. She has completed all of her activities to a brilliant standard.

Bernice has continued to shine bright, what brilliant work!

Calvin has been a star and has worked hard at home today.

Declan has been very creative at home. He has made some yummy fudge and some funky glasses. Looking cool!

Brilliant work from Fidel today in all different subjects. You have worked so hard!

Tiagan has been completing her maths sheets at home. Fabulous!
Freddie has been working so hard at home to complete all of his activities.
