Good morning Year 3!

I hope you're all well today and ready for another great day of home learning. Make the most of the sunshine today, as it's due to get a little cooler over the next few days.

Who will be our star of the day?

Here are your activities:

English

Use the planning grid on page 11 to help you to plan your own Jungle Log. You are writing what happened when you explored your jungle. Remember you are writing in first person (from your point of view). Reread the Jungle Log on page 3 to give you some ideas.

Maths

Today is lesson 7 on angles and shapes. Click on the link below and scroll down. Lesson 7 is titled 'to draw perpendicular lines'. Remember to use a ruler when drawing your lines. Watch the video and complete the activities.

Reading

This week we are going to be reading a book called 'You're a bad man, Mr Gum'. Listen to Joanna Lumley reading the two extracts from the book. Follow the video transcripts as she reads. Think about the questions below as you listen and read.

Questions for extract 1:

What do we learn about about Mr Gum?
How can the carpet be 'the colour of unhappiness'?
Can you believe that the bed has never been made?
Are you surprised that Mr Gum has a pretty garden?

Questions for extract 2:

Could you visualise (imagine) what is happening in this extract?
Did you think Mr Gum would talk like this?
Can you believe that he is scared of the fairy?

ICT

Today we are going to play coding games to develop our computational thinking. We are going to play a game called Candy Quest. Can you help the troll through the different levels using coding? Listen carefully to the instructions. The levels get harder as you work through.

Harley is our star of the day. He has completed all of his work today to a brilliant standard. Have a read of Harley's wonderful jungle log, it sounds like a fun adventure. Also, Harley has listened to the feedback he has been given and has ensured he is using a ruler in his maths work. It looks so smart- well done!

Fidel's jungle log is absolutely brilliant. I love the descriptive language, how magical to see a parrot fish in the river! He has also completed every activity today.

Freddie continues to work really hard at home. Wonderful maths work from him today.

Fantastic maths work from Merit today. Well done!

A brilliant effort from Calvin today. A detailed jungle log and maths work too.

Fabulous writing from Pamodou today. He is working hard completing his jungle log. I can spot some lovely joined handwriting too!

Awele continues to impress us with her brilliant work. I love the interesting vocabulary you have included in your jungle log plan as well as your lovely presentation.
