Good morning Year 3!
I hope you've had a lovely weekend. What did you get up to? We would love to hear all about it.
I'm in school today. I will reply to your messages as soon as I can.
Who will be our star of the day?
Here are your activities:
English
This week we are continuing with our work on Lockdown poetry. Turn to page 21. We are going to be looking at alliteration today. Remember alliteration is when the first letters of words next to each other are the same or make the same sound. For example, a slippery slide. Read the poem on page 21, can you find any alliteration? Can you think of your own examples of alliteration? Try and link it to the park.

Maths
We are continuing with our work on measurement. Scroll down and click on the lesson 'measures: ordering mass'. Ignore that it says lesson 1, it's not lesson 1. This follows on from Friday's work. Watch the video and answer the questions.

Reading
We are going to choose 3 brand new books from the Oxford Owl online library. Follow the link below. Select 'my class login' at the top. Type in the username and password below.

username: christtheking3
password: homelearning
Now you can choose 3 new reading books, remember to choose a mix of non-fiction and fiction. Select the appropriate age group, I would suggest age 7-9 or 6-7.
When you have read your new book today, ask an adult or older sibling to ask you these questions. Let us know which book you read.
Fiction:
Before you read. What do you predict this story will be about?
Summarise the story.
What was your favourite part of the story?
Would you recommend this book to a friend?
Non-fiction:
Before you read. What do you predict this book will be about?
Was your prediction right? What was this book about?
Tell me two things you found out about that you didn't know before.
What does the 'glossary' tell you?
PSHE
Today we are going to be focusing on ourselves. We are going to think about what makes us amazing and why we are special.
Listen to the story, Giraffe's Can't Dance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf3OHNUiG4k
Gerald didn't believe in himself at the start of the story, however he soon realised that he was talented. He believed in himself!
Think about all the things that make you special. Ask yourself these questions.
-What are your talents?
-Why do your friends like to play with you?
-What are you proud of?
-What makes you unique?
-What have you worked hard at?
You could create a poster about all the things that make you amazing. I can think of so many different things that make each one of you special.
Please remember to comment below or send us an email to let us know how you are. Also, keep sending in your wonderful photos to year.3@ctk.education
Have a lovely day,
Miss Kingscote
