Who will be our star of the day?

Here are your activities for today:

English

Today we are going to be carrying on with our creative writing. Today we are focusing on pages 3 and 4. On page 3, they explain what a 'List Poem' is. To start with, you are going to group the items on page 3 into delicate and strong,  add your own ideas too. We are going to use these ideas to create a 'List Poem', just like the example on page 4.

Maths

We have nearly finished our work on angles and shape. Today is lesson 13. Click on the link below and scroll down. Lesson 13 is titled 'to describe the properties of 3D shapes'. Watch the video and complete the activities. Remember to use a ruler to draw your shapes.

Reading

We are going to continue to look at the story of Dindy and the Elephant today. Click on the link below. Read extract 1 again and complete activity 1.

D.T/Science

We are going to get creative today and make our own lava lamps.

You will need:
A clean, clear plastic bottle
Water
Vegetable oil
A fizzing tablet (Alka Seltzer or Berocca)
Food colouring

What to do:
  1. Fill the bottle most of the way with vegetable oil.
  2. Fill the rest of the bottle with water.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring; your choice of colour.
  4. Break an alka-seltzer tablet into a few small pieces, and drop them in the bottle one at a time.
  5. Watch your lava lamp erupt into activity!

If you don't have the equipment, don't worry. Can you make something else today using your creativity? There are some other ideas at the bottom of the website.
Please remember to comment below or send us an email to let us know how you are. Also, keep sending in your wonderful photos to year.3@ctk.education

Have a lovely day,

Miss Kingscote

Today's reflection

Firstly, we have had the best day of home learning so far. I have heard from 21 children. That is INCREDIBLE!

It was so lovely to see so many of you on zoom today. Thank you for joining us. It is always a pleasure to see your smiling faces. What Disney experts you are! We will have a different theme for our quiz next week. Also, well done to all of you sending in your lovely work and your fab photos. You are working so hard!

Today's star of the day is Harley. He has made an amazing lava lamp and has completed all of his activities to a fantastic standard. Have a look at his work below.

Awele has worked so hard today. She has put 100% into every piece of work and it looks fabulous! Your handwriting is so lovely and neat.

Fidel is a super star! His work is fantastic too. You should be so proud, Fidel. We are so proud of you and the effort you put into everything you do.

It is lovely to see Pamodou working so hard. What fab writing!

Wonderful work from Maisie. She has been working so hard at home and school. Mrs Triggs was so impressed with your poetry, Maisie!
